DESCRIPTION:In a joint project with the latvian women’s ensemble „Vox iubilantis“\, composer Andreas Theobald and historian Andris Levāns we’ll be musically exploring the medieval past of Riga’s St. Maria Magdalene’s monastery. Authentic chants from medieval Rīga will be performed for the first time since the dissolution of the monastery alongside electronical music that was commissioned for this project. The night concert promises to be a very unique\, contemplative concert experience connecting Rīga’s Maria Magdalene’s church with its rich history.

DESCRIPTION:„Bachs monumentale »h-Moll-Messe« gehört zu den Meisterwerken der Musikgeschichte – Marcus Schinkel birgt daraus ganz neue Reichtümer. Mit genialem Blick für die Potenziale im Original fügt er jazzige Übergänge und Improvisationen ein\, ohne den Respekt für Bachs musikalische Substanz zu verlieren. Damit setzt der vielseitige Pianist und Komponist aus Bonn die Erfolgsgeschichte mit dem ebenfalls hier beheimateten Kammerchor Vox Bona fort. Für diesen hatte er bei unserem Festival 2022 Beethovens Missa solemnis rekomponiert.
